Multnomah Lions Have Big Week, Then Face Big Week

The tough challenges the Multnomah Lions basketball team continued this past week, as the Lions faced their inner-city foe Portland Bible and also met the number 3 and 4 teams in the country, Grace Bible and West Coast Bible.

And the results were very good. A 2-1 record in the three games played, with the loss coming to Grace Bible by nine points.

"Overall I am pleased with the results. The schedule this year has been challenging, but it has helped as each day I can see the improvement in our team. We are growing up rapidly, " said head coach Curt Bickley.

The rapid growth was evident when the Lions took on West Coast Baptist in a Wednesday afternoon matinee game. The powerful West Coast Baptist team, rarely took the lead at any point in the game, as the final score of 110-101 was indicative of the strong play from the Lions.

Now it does not get any easier, as  Multnomah heads out on a three game road trip in which they will play Walla Walla twice and a game against Lewis Clark State in between. The next home game for the Lions will be on January 31st, when they host Walla Walla in a 2:00 pm start.

With the regular season about to end in just a little over a month, how does Bickley see the future. "It is important to win these games and keep getting better. We challenged ourselves in November and December with the toughest schedule we have ever had at Multnomah, now it is time for that to show up in the victory column. We also need to practice hard, something that we constantly work on. Players that do not practice hard, will not see a lot playing time, it is as simple as that."
