The D-League has always been exciting and I plan to write on it at this site, http://gregcrawfordbasketball.blogspot.com year around. So bookmark and check often for news, updates, opinion and everything else D-League right year.

Preseason---The D-League gets underway tonight with two preseason games, Austin @Rio Grande Valley and Erie @Tulsa. Of course preseason games are so important in the D-League as each team plays less games, than the NBA in their preseason and crtical decisions need to be made in a quick hurry.

Maine Red Claws---Maine, probably can't wait to get their season started, as of today, they will have not only the services of Kris Joseph, but also the Celtics number one pick and 22nd pick overall Fab Melo. Melo is a player that dropped lower in the 2012 NBA drop than many expected, so it will be interesting to see how the 7-footer out of Syracuse fares in the D-League. Lots of big time potential. The Claws open their regular season on November 30th at the LA D-Fenders.

Call Ups---For new followers of the D-Leauge and big time D-League fans, it is always important to refresh the call up rules and assigning players. Any NBA team call up players, anytime and as many as they want, but in assigning players to D-League teams, the only assign a player three (3) times during the season.

D-League Flavor---Great news for the D-League, as of the opening rosters of the NBA teams, 20 percent of the players had played in the D-League. Pretty good I would say and that number will increase as the season goes along for sure.

Showcase---Once again the D-League Showcase will be hosted by the Reno Bighorns, in Reno, Nevada, January 7-10, 2012 and this is an awesome event and I will be there for sure, evaluating all the teams.

Keep reading, much more to come and appreciate your comments and support of this site.
