Tuesday Night Oregon High School Highlights


On Tuesday high school basketball teams across the state began to wrap up their regular seasons. The number one team in the state Lake Oswego (24-0, 10-0 Three Rivers League), faced off against Lakeridge High School (13-10, 4-6) in a crosstown rivalry game. However, after a tight first quarter Lake Oswego blew open the lead in the 2nd quarter outscoring the Pacers 16 to 4. The Lakers of Lake Oswego never looked back and won by a score of 69-26, finishing the season undefeated. Reggie Oliver of the Pacers carried the load last night scoring 17 of his team's 26 points.

In the Pacific Conference, McMinnville (13-10, 9-5 Pacific Conference) defeated Forest Grove (13-11, 5-9) led by Gabe Gubrud who scored a team high 16 points. With the win McMinnville clinched an automatic playoff berth, while the Vikings of Forest Grove are destined for a play-in game on Friday.

In Metro Conference action, the Southridge Skyhawks (13-10, 6-4) hosted Jesuit High (21-2, 10-0) in closely contested game. Khyan Rayner led all scorers with 32 points, as he passed the 400 season total points mark on Tuesday night. Although Southridge pulled in within 4 points late in the fourth quarter, Jesuit pulled out the win thanks to superb free throw shooting late.
